Life Is A River

Life is as fluid and ever changing like a river. You can put up a dam, and stop the water, but it will come anyway and create a bigger or new body of water. You can alter its course, but it will still flow to its destination. In it resides many different species of plants and animals that are wholly dependent on its existence.
Our lives are the same. There are things in our lives that are dependent on our ability to cope, and execute certain tasks in it. There are people who are dependent on us. Moreover, we are dependent on our own ability to be self-secure and sufficient.
Even the best-laid plans go awry. Life can be a flash flood that may destroy homes, or ruin crops, we must be able to adapt to circumstances in our lives and react in a positive and constructive way. We cannot become overwhelmed with grief or fear when things change, but pull up our socks, and be prepared to do what is necessary for our survival and progress.
We can be as calm as serene waters in a still pond, or we can be as angry as powerful ocean waves crashing toward shore. It is our choice. We must allow ourselves to be fluid in life. To be prepared for any eventuality. In being prepared, we act, and not react to situations. Thus, we are able to thinking rationally, and not be tempted to make emotional decisions, when they require us to be level headed.
The ability to be fluid allows our desires to take on a life of their own and blossom into what they were truly meant to become. Sometimes ideas we hold in our minds evolve into something much more satisfying when we allow life’s influences channel our direction into unexpected and more pleasing results. Having an open mind allows us to embrace every possible opportunity. It also allows us to take advantage of every door that opens before us.
We are not meant to remain the same. Our bodies’ age and changes with time. So does our attitudes likes and dislikes. This is a good thing. It is a sign of growth and maturity. It symbolizes our progress through life into becoming the people we were always destined to be. We should not sit idly by and allow life make certain changes for us. That would ensure that we are never happy. However, accepting the fact that life is forever changing, a constant evolution, we can be excited about change and the wonderful possibilities that come with it. That we may flow into the abyss that is our own ocean, full of hope, love, happiness, and peace.
